SME Bank targets to approve financing worth RM222 million to eligible companies for their business expansion during SME Bank Mini XCESS for Sarawak Region. SME Bank Mini XCESS is an annual event held with the aim to reach out to the SME entrepreneurs directly. From January to now, the Bank has engaged with approximately 1,500 SME entrepreneurs and Bintulu is the last venue for the first series of the programme this year.
The annual Outreach Programme is one of the Bank’s efforts in resolving issues pertaining to access to financing and the response from SME entrepreneurs thus far have been very positive.

Approximately 1,500 SME entrepreneurs get access to financing and capacity building programmes from SME Bank when they attended the SME Bank XCESS 2017. Launched by YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Bin Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) representing the Minister of MITI on 29 March 2017, SME Bank XCESS 2017 is an annual Outreach Programme designed to tackle the issue of access to financing for SME entrepreneurs. SME Bank XCESS and its various Outreach Programmes have proven to be effective when SME Bank successfully approved financing close to RM1 billion in 2016 under these initiatives. The event provided the opportunity for SME entrepreneurs to get one to one consultation, networking session, briefing on SME Bank Financing, Pocket Talk by Guest Speakers and a motivational session by Centre For Entrepreneur Development And Research Sdn. In conjunction with his working visit to Sabah from 1 – 2 February 2017, YB Datuk Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) held a dialogue session with local SMEs. The programme was held in Kota Belud and ointly organised by MITI and SME Corp Malaysia.
The objective of the session was to brief SME players on:
- the status of SME development particularly in Sabah;
- the SME Act which is due to be enacted this year; and
- assistance programmes offered by Federal Agencies under MITI.
The session also provided a platform for SMEs in Sabah to engage with MITI, its agencies as well as other agencies tasked with developing SMEs.
There are currently 645,136 SMEs in Malaysia, representing 97.3% of total business entities in the country. Of this, 6.3% are from Sabah. Most of the SMEs in Sabah are Microenterprises.

YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister (Trade) MITI held a working visit to MATRADE on 11 August 2016 at 2.30 pm. He received a very warm welcome from Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud , CEO of MATRADE and other top officials. YB Datuk Chua was given a briefing on the functions, services and the achievement to date. He was also taken on a tour to Malaysia Export Exhibition Centre (MEEC), Integrated Center for Export, Business Information Center, Trade Gallery and Client Services Center.

ASEAN YOUNG Entrepreneurs
KUALA LUMPUR: The International Trade and Industry Ministry is organising the Malaysia Entrepreneurship Forum 2015 (MEF) for local entrepreneurs seeking to grow their businesses.
To be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre on Thursday, the forum is aimed at providing information about government efforts to help entrepreneurs go global.
It will also feature successful entrepreneurs such as Cliff Ink Sdn Bhd’s Michelle Lau Sook Yee and Habibul Ajmi Manggar from Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd, who will share their experiences.
Other entrepreneurs include Datin Nor Azlin Abdul Jalil from Pearl Haya Sdn Bhd, Razi Yahaya from Rocksoft Sdn Bhd, B.J. Tan from Jeenhuat Foodstuffs Industries Sdn Bhd, and Asyraf Abdul Rahman from Autokeen Sdn Bhd.
