The Ministry of International Trade and Industry through the National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO) made its biggest appearance ever in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2017 (LIMA ‘17). This is part of MITI’s efforts in promoting the development of Malaysian aerospace and Shipbuilding & Ship Repair (SBSR) industries.
Day 1: 21 March 2017 (Tuesday)
LIMA’17 was officially opened by YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) Tarmac. The Opening Ceremony was also attended by MITI Minister YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed and MITI Deputy Minister (Industry) YB Datuk Ahmad Maslan. During the Opening Ceremony, the Prime Minister highlighted MITI’s role in the development of aerospace industry through National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO). The High Commission of Canada in Malaysia and the Government of British Columbia co-hosted the British Columbia Aerospace Mission to Kuala Lumpur on 20 February 2017. The objective of the mission is to explore potential business collaboration with Malaysian aerospace industry players.
In conjunction with the mission, corporate presentations and business matching sessions were organised at The Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO), MITI was invited to deliver a presentation to a group of aerospace delegation from British Columbia, Canada.
The delegation comprises six Canadian companies that offer specialized business solutions in the areas such as Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), flight training, aerospace engineering training and aviation management systems. Local industry players were also invited to the program and to participate in the business matching session.
