On Monday, 20th February 2017, YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) had visited three companies in Ipoh, Perak, to view their facilities and learn more about each company’s operations and successes. The companies visited were the Chek Hup Group of Companies, MRC Industries Sdn Bhd, and Ipoh International School Sdn Bhd. The Chek Hup Group of companies is a manufacturer of rock sugar and instant beverages such as coffee, tea, and chocolate drinks. They have leveraged upon the soft loan schemes extended by MIDF since 2008, namely the Soft Loan Scheme for Small & Medium Enterprises (“SLSME”). YB Datuk Chua then visited Ipoh International School Sdn Bhd, which operates the Tenby Schools in Ipoh. YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Bin Haji Maslan, Timbalan Menteri (Industri), bersama-sama wakil MITI dan agensi di bawah MITI telah berkesempatan melawat kilang Syarikat Selia-Tek Industries Sdn. Bhd. yang terletak di Taman Sains Selangor, Kota Damansara pada 6 Januari 2017. Turut hadir mengikuti lawatan tersebut adalah YB Puan Halimaton Saadiah Binti Bohan, ADUN Kota Damansara.
Lawatan tersebut telah memberi pendedahan mengenai PKS yang terlibat dalam industri peranti perubatan dan farmaseutikal. Antara produk yang dikeluarkan oleh syarikat tersebut adalah disposable syringes and needles, aerial bundle cable accessories dan components for railway fastening systems kepada Pharmaniaga Berhad, Tenaga Nasional Berhad dan Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad. Syarikat juga telah mengikuti Program Pembangunan Vendor (PPV) yang dilaksanakan oleh MITI dan telah menjadi vendor kepada Syarikat Pharmaniaga Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd.

1 September 2016 - The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) held its monthly assembly in conjunction with the Merdeka Celebration. The assembly was attended by the top management, as well as employees of MITI and its agencies. The guests were entertained by a special performance from Faiq Adnan. During his speech, MITI Minister YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed has urged MITI officers to continue working hard in contributing towards a stronger economic growth of Malaysia. Four new officers were introduced during the assembly. Deputy Minister YB Datuk Ahmad Maslan presented the awards for 'Anugerah Jasa' and 'Anugerah Pekerja Contoh. Six winners of the MITI Quest contest were also announced. At the same time, MITI's two MyASEAN interns also received the certificate of appreciation. At the end of the event, all the attendees sang 'Sehati Sejiwa' which is also the official song for Merdeka Celebration 2016.
