International Trade and Industry Minister II, Dato' Sri Ong Ka Chuan urged Malaysian SMEs to take full advantage of the immense opportunities created by China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative. "The rise of China and the economic openings this has brought about are particularly relevant for our SMEs, given Malaysia's strategic position as a gateway to the 625-million strong ASEAN market, ” he said.
Dato' Sri Ong made the remarks in his address when officiating the "SME Solutions Expo 2016" organised by SME Business Media International on 30 September, 2016.
SME Solutions Expo 2016 gathers over 100 vendors specialising in technology, market -access, capacity development and financing for SMEs. Datuk J. Jayasiri, MITI’s Secretary General, also addressed the SME owners and the companies that attended the forum together with other industry experts and leaders.
