YB Datuk Haji Ahmad bin Haji Maslan, Deputy Minister (Industry), MITI officiated the launching of Scientex Great Wall Sdn Bhd at the Selangor Halal Hub, Pulau Indah. Scientex Great Wall Sdn Bhd, a new RM250 million investment Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene Plant or in short BOPP is a successful strategic alliances between Scientex Berhad and Futamura Chemical from Japan. Scientex is making excellent headway in the consumer packaging segment. The new BOPP plant in Pulau Indah has an annual capacity of 60,000 metric tons, generating potential regional sales of RM450 million per annum once it hits full capacity. This new facility will offer a more comprehensive range of consumer packaging films, and allow Scientex to expand its market share in the food and beverage market in Malaysia and Asia Pacific. The new BOPP plant was designed and engineered from the onset based on the premise of Japan Quality, South East Asian Cost.
