Official Visit YBTM (Trade) YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong to the Halal Industry Development Corporation
(HDC) took place on 29 August, 2016 at the Global Halal Support Centre, Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. The delegation was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer of HDC YBhg. Dato' Seri Jamil Bidin and Senior Management.
Among the agenda of the visit is a special briefing on the role of HDC in Malaysia such as Global Scenario of Halal Industry in Malaysia, Halal Industry Master Plan, Halal Industry achievements and Q&A session. YB Datuk Chua was also taken around Global Halal Support Centre where there are showcases of halal products displayed.
The event ended with a friendly session with the HDC's staff and signing on “guest book”.

The Seminar was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry and H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia., H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of Council of Development of Cambodia and Neak Okhna Dr. Kith Meng, President of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce also joined the Seminar.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Bernama) — The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) expects total export surplus for the halal industry this year to exceed the RM32 billion achieved in 2013.
Deputy Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri said there is massive untapped growth potential the global halal industry which local Halal players should tap.
“The weakening ringgit can also be a key driver to the exports as importers can buy products at lower prices,” he told reporters after the soft launch of Halal Ingredients Asia 2015 here today.
Meanwhile, Halal Development Industry Corporation Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Jamil Bidin expressed hope the number of local players of certified Halal ingredient manufacturers would increase this year.

KUALA LUMPUR: Sebanyak 130 syarikat telah beroperasi di taman industri halal setakat ini dengan jumlah pelaburan mencecah RM8.5 bilion, kata Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (Miti) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
Beliau berkata, taman industri halal itu telah mewujudkan lebih 5,000 peluang pekerjaan kepada anak tempatan dalam pelbagai industri antaranya pemprosesan makanan, kosmetik, ramuan, farmaseutikal dan ternakan.
“Terdapat 21 taman industri halal seluruh negara di mana 19 daripadanya berada di bawah seliaan agensi kerajaan pusat serta kerajaan negeri manakala dua lagi adalah milik swasta,” katanya di dalam jawapan bertulis kepada Su Keong Siong (DAP-Ipoh Timur).
Keong Siong meminta kerajaan menyatakan jumlah hab halal serta kejayaan hab halal yang telah beroperasi termasuk jenis industri yang diceburi.
