SME Corp. Malaysia, United Parcel Services (UPS) Inc. and US-ASEAN Business Council collaborated to organise a Seminar entitled "Malaysian SMEs: Across Borders" on 6 October 2016, depicting the true spirit of public-private partnership to create greater awareness and excitement for Malaysian SMEs to go beyond domestic and even regional borders.
The Seminar featured 3 main sessions namely a presentation entitled “Free Trade Agreements: What’s in it for SMEs”; a Case Study by Malaysian SME and a Panel Discussion on "Opportunities for SMEs to Participate in International Trade". The speakers had shared invaluable insights including highlights of experience and challenges faced in cross-border trade.

YB Minister II of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan on 26 September 2016 received a courtesy call from H.E. Mrs. Niale Kaba, Minister of Planning and Development of Côte d’Ivoire, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Planning and Development, Presidency of the Republic, Public Investments Programme of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as officials from the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Malaysia and Côte d’Ivoire at Menara MITI, Kuala Lumpur. The courtesy call is part of their study visit programme to Malaysia to learn Malaysia’s experiences in driving the government and nation’s economic transformation, as well as their preparation for the Second International Conference on the Emergence of Africa in 2017.
