Y.B. Datuk Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) officiated RUAG Aviation Malaysia (RUAG) 1st component Maintenance, Repair & Overall (MRO) facility in KLIA Aeropolis Subang on 17 November 2016. RUAG’s service center in Malaysia will provide MRO services for aircraft component, particularly turboprop and helicopters to local customers as well as those in the region. RUAG is also an authorised service center for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Airbus Helicopters, Bell, Bombardier, Cirrus, Cessna, Diamond, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Leonardo-Finmeccanica (Agusta Westland), Piaggio, Sikorsky, Pilatus, Piper and Mooney.
With the opening of RUAG Aviation Malaysia, it sets another milestone towards Malaysia’s vision to become a leading regional aerospace player by the year 2030. Pn Wan Suraya, Deputy Secretary General (Strategy and Monitoring), MITI presented MITI’s Strategy and Efforts Linking to Budget 2017 to members of the British-Malaysia Chambers of Commerce (BMCC) on 11 November 2017 in Kuala Lumpur. The session included a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Tony Collingridge OBE, Director of the UK Trade and Investment for Malaysia.
In her presentation, Puan Wan Suraya updated on the various programmes and incentives announced under the Budget 2017, namely relating to SMEs and start-ups, digital economy and e-commerce ecosystem as well as human capital and talent development. These programmes will go hand in hand with MITI’s ongoing trade and industrialisation strategies, as well as external trade strategies via FTAs at bilateral and regional levels.

8 Nov – Seramai kira-kira 40 Pelatih Mahasiswa Turun Parlimen (MANTAP) diketuai oleh Saudari Zanariah Binti Muhammad telah melakukan lawatan sambil belajar ke MITI pada hari ini. Tujuan lawatan diadakan ialah untuk mengetahui secara langsung berkaitan MITI.
Lawatan ini disambut oleh YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Bin Haji Maslan, Timbalan Menteri (Industri) MITI. Antara pengisian program ialah sesi ramah mesra dan taklimat berkaitan MITI dan agensi oleh YB Timbalan Menteri (Industri) MITI serta jamuan tengahari.

During his visit, the Deputy Minister took the opportunity to visit Mama Best Food Manufacturer Sdn Bhd. located at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP).
Mama Best Food is one of the first Bumiputera companies in Sabah involved in the production of frozen food certified halal. The company is registered with SME Corp and MATRADE and has received assistance from SME Corp in their efforts to expand production. The company is now looking to expand its market beyond Sabah. Joining Datuk Ahmad during the visit were the CEO of KKIP, Mr Melvin Disimond as well as officers from MITI, MATRADE and SME Corp.
The visit was a good opportunity for MITI and its agencies to engage with local SME companies and entrepreneurs as well as identify potential companies that can be further developed through MITI and Agencies’ assistance...
Award & Recognition Ceremony for the Enhancing Vendor’s Competitiveness through Innovation Programme
YB Datuk Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry on 3rd November 2016 officiated the Award & Recognition Ceremony for the Enhancing Vendor’s Competitiveness through Innovation Programme at Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC). During the ceremony, YB Datuk Ahmad Maslan presented certificates of recognition to 19 vendor companies who have successfully completed their programme and obtained various certification.
This programme is a capability enhancement programme under MITI’s Vendor Development Programme (VDP) to develop the capacity of the vendors, enabling them to achieve the key performance indicators (KPI) that have been set under the Eleventh Malaysia Plan.

52 officials from various ministries and agencies participated in the International Trade Issues Workshop co-organized by MITI and Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSiS), Singapore. The 3-day workshop aimed to provide opportunities for government officials to learn more about issues and challenges faced in implementing international trade policies such as FTA, TPP, WTO and RCEP. It also focused on Global Value Chains and Trade Policies Formulation.
Eight (8) ministries, i.e. Ministry of Finance (MOF), Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Ministry of Plantation Industrial and Commodity (MPIC), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE), Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and Ministry of Works (MOW) joined MITI and its agencies at the workshop.





A Townhall Session with Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Datuk Haji Ahmad bin Haji Maslan was conducted on 10 October 2016 to get feedback on the issues and challenges faced by SMEs in Malaysia, get recommendations for improvement of existing SME development programmes and provide information on the National SME Development Bill which is being drafted. The session was organised by the Ministry of International Trade & Industry together with SME Corp. Malaysia.






YB Datuk Haji Ahmad bin Haji Maslan, Timbalan Menteri (Industri), MITI merasmikan pelancaran kilang Scientex Great Wall Sdn Bhd di Halal Hub Selangor, Pulau Indah. Scientex Great Wall Sdn Bhd, dengan pelaburan Bi-axially Oriented Polypropylene Plant atau ringkasnya BOPP bernilai RM250 juta adalah usaha sama antara Scientex Berhad dan Futamura Chemical dari Jepun. Scientex kini berkembang maju dalam segmen pembungkusan pengguna. Kilang BOPP baru di Pulau Indah ini mempunyai kapasiti tahunan sebanyak 60,000 tan metrik, menjana jualan serantau potensi RM450 juta setahun apabila mencecah kapasiti penuh. Kemudahan baru akan menawarkan pelbagai produk komprehensif film pembungkusan pengguna, dan membolehkan Scientex untuk mengembangkan pasarannya dalam pasaran makanan dan minuman di Malaysia dan Asia Pasifik. Kilang BOPP yang baru ini direka dari awal pembinaan dengan mengambilkira kejuruteraan berdasarkan premis Japan Quality, South East Asian Cost.







YBM MITI, YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed chaired a Dialogue session with council members from the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) on 22 September 2016. Senior representatives from related Government ministries and agencies namely the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resource, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism, Ministry of Transport, Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Malaysia Competition Commission, Social Security Organisation and Human Resources Development Fund also attended the Dialogue.
