MITI’s DIALOGUE WITH THE FEDERATION OF MALAYSIAN MANUFACTURERS, 22 SEPTEMBER 2016

YBM MITI, YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed chaired a Dialogue session with council members from the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) on 22 September 2016. Senior representatives from related Government ministries and agencies namely the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Human Resource, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operative and Consumerism, Ministry of Transport, Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Malaysia Competition Commission, Social Security Organisation and Human Resources Development Fund also attended the Dialogue.
The objective of the Dialogue was to enhance networking and share views on the development of the manufacturing sector, issues and challenges faced by the sector. In addition, the Dialogue also sought to gather suggestions and ideas to enhance the growth of the industry and to improve government delivery system.
Issues discussed during the Dialogue include cost of doing business, labour law issues, foreign workers, export logistics, R&D and innovation incentives and Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET). MITI and relevant Government ministries and agencies will be following up on the issues raised.
