YB Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, MITI Minister, had a one-day working visit to Sabah

YB Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, MITI Minister, had a one-day working visit to Sabah on 27 August 2016. During this visit YB Minister attended a Town Hall session with SMEs in the state. The programme was jointly organised by SME Corp Malaysia and the Ministry of Industrial Development (MID), Sabah. The Town Hall session was attended by more than 500 participants from Government agencies, micro, small and medium industries as well as NGOs representing the more than 40,000 MSMEs in the State. Joining the Minister was his State counterpart, Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Industrial Development. Also in attendance was the Deputy CEO of SME Corp. Malaysia, Mrs K. Karunajothi and the Permanent Secretary of MID Sabah, Datuk Hashim Paijan.
During the Town Hall Session, YB Minister briefed on the status of development of MSMEs in Sabah and the government assistance programmes in place. He also briefed on the SME Act which is in the process of being finalised which is expected to allow for better coordination among Ministries and Agencies, both at the Federal and State level, to ensure that current and future programmes effectively achieve their target of creating resilient, dynamic and globally connected SMEs. The Minister also used the opportunity to share on the development in the TPPA as well as on the ongoing ASEAN integration.
