Being the government's principal agency responsible for the investment promotion and coordination of industrial development and selected services sector, MIDA has identified several strategies and approaches in supporting the government’s agenda to further encourage domestic investments by private sectors and GLICs.
Acknowledging PNB as the biggest GLIC in Malaysia, MIDA has taken the initiative to foster closer working relationships with PNB by organising a dialogue session between YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, MITI Minister , top management MITI & MIDA with the Group Chairman PNB, YBhg. Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar and top management of PNB Group of Companies on 17th April 2017.
During the session which lasted for almost 2 hours, YB Minister highlighted to PNB on the need to support Malaysian companies to participate in PNB’s various projects and initiatives locally and abroad. YB Minister also congratulated UMW for the collaboration with Rolls Royce; and requested UMW to prove its capabilities in moving into high-tech projects with Rolls Royce in order to further develop Malaysia's aerospace industry.
YB Minister also hoped that with Sime Darby’s plan to assemble BMW 3 series, 5 series & 7 series in Kulim for the regional market beginning in 2018, would further support the country's automotive industry.
This dialogue session would be the first step towards more collaboration and coordination between MITI and its agencies with PNB Group of Companies.
