MITI and the New Zealand High Commission in Kuala Lumpur jointly organised a forum themed ‘Turbulent Times – The Importance of an Open Economy’ on 18 April 2017 at Seminar Room 2, MITI Tower. The forum was held in conjunction with the 60th Anniversary of Malaysia-New Zealand diplomatic relations and the visit by Honourable Todd McClay, Minister of Trade New Zealand.
The objective of the joint forum was to provide the Malaysian and New Zealand business communities the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the Malaysia-New Zealand trade and investment relations as well as to learn about the countries’ experiences as open economies, its challenges and future direction.
YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry and Honourable Todd McClay, Minister of Trade New Zealand, both delivered keynote addresses. Both ministers highlighted the evolving trade ties between Malaysia and New Zealand, the importance of the strategic partnership that have been established over six decades, as well as actions to forge the partnership forward.
